Capturing Memories: An Extended Family Portrait Session
There’s something truly magical about a family portrait session at sunset. A recent extended family portrait session brought together by two sisters was no exception. The golden light, the skyline near one sister’s beloved home, and the joy shared among family members created the perfect setting for a memorable photoshoot. As a photographer, it’s always a privilege to capture these special moments, and their session was a delightful experience from start to finish.
The Perfect Setting
They chose a perfect spot overlooking downtown Dallas for this extended family portrait session that was near and dear to their hearts as well as their beautiful morning view! The timing was perfect, with the sun casting a warm, golden hue over the water of White Rock Lake and downtown Dallas, Texas. The overlook’s natural beauty provided a breathtaking backdrop, enhancing every shot with its soft, romantic light. When that sun hit the horizon it was simply breathtaking. It is my favorite time of day to capture some perfect portraits of any kind! It’s called the Golden Hour for a reason!
An Extended Family Portrait Session Affair
Both families came prepared with smiles and enthusiasm. One bringing along not just the immediate family, but also their beloved dog. What type of extended family portrait session would it be if you didn’t extend it to the family pet!
It was wonderful to see how close-knit and affectionate all the cousins were.. The session started with the group of cousins who, were excited to play and pose. The inclusion of their dogs added an extra layer of warmth and fun to the session.
Capturing Candid Moments
One of my favorite aspects of family portrait sessions is capturing candid moments that reflect the genuine connections between family members. These two families were naturals in front of the camera, allowing me to capture spontaneous laughter, tender hugs, and playful interactions. Even the brother-in-laws bonding while the moms managed to pose the pup!
