Have I always been a photographer?
Well, let’s just say I’ve always been the photographer. Whether it was a friend’s birthday, a weekend getaway, or a random moment that needed to be remembered, the camera always found its way into my hands. And yes, I’ll admit it—I’ve always had a knack for capturing the decisive moment.
When did my passion for photography start?
It was a natural evolution. I chose to study photography at UNT in Denton, Texas, but I had always dabbled in various forms of art since I was young. Yet, somehow, life always kept bringing me back to the camera. For the past eight years, I’ve been listening to the signs, trusting the pull, and diving deeper into my craft.
How did I get into portraits?
In art school, I learned that a cohesive body of work was key. To my young, barely-adult brain, cohesion sounded a bit like “eternity” and “boredom,” so I experimented with all kinds of ideas. At first, my “portraits” weren’t of people, but of mannequins—still, lifeless forms that often left my peers wondering, Who’s the model?
Through critique after critique, those mannequins evolved. I started blending in human body parts, giving them a bit of life—still static, but with a spark of humanity. It was a cohesive body of work, sure, but as I grew, I realized the same poses and shapes began to feel… well, redundant. I craved more.
And then it hit me. My work was always meant to be about real people, with warmth and soul, not just plastic and posing.
And here I am today—living the dream I set out to pursue in my late teens when I received my first film camera and lens. Capturing portraits of all kinds and Headshots that leave a strong first impression.
Portraits that Stand Out. Headshots that Impress.
My Photography Philosophies
These philosophies guide my approach to photography and inspire me to create images that are not only visually stunning but also deeply meaningful. They remind me to seek beauty in every moment and capture genuine emotions, creating timeless memories for my clients to cherish.
01.
The Decisive Moment
Inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson, this philosophy in portrait photography is about capturing that one fleeting instant where everything comes together—expression, emotion, and composition. It’s the moment a subject’s eyes light up with laughter, a subtle smirk hints at a hidden story, or the wind perfectly catches their hair. These moments can’t be forced or recreated; they require patience, observation, and an instinct for timing to freeze something truly special in a single frame.
02.
See the Beauty in Everything
The beauty of a portrait lies in the little imperfections that make someone unique—like a crooked smile or that quirky signature expression. These details help to tell a deeper, more honest story when revealed in photographs. Posing, however, accentuates natural features and personality, bringing out confidence, elegance, or playfulness. It’s all about balancing raw moments with subtle guidance to create something authentic and full of life.
03.
Set and the Setting
Setting the scene in photography is all about choosing the right background and environment to highlight the subject. Whether it’s a vibrant urban street, a serene nature spot, or a cozy indoor space, the setting can totally change the mood of the image. The key is to let the surroundings complement the subject, inspire the look, the feel, the mood and even the color palette of the photograph. These elements will create a richer story.
