Highland Park HOCO 2026: DALLAS HOMECOMING PHOTOGRAPHER
SOPHOMORE HOMECOMING IN DALLAS, TX
There is something about Homecoming in Highland Park that feels like its own little season. The dresses arrive, bouquets are ordered, boutonnieres are pinned, dinner plans are made—and somewhere in the middle of it all, a group of parents is trying to get everyone to stand still for just one more photo. Then comes in the Dallas Homecoming Photographer…
For the Highland Park HOCO 2026, I had the chance to photograph a group of sophomores before they headed off for their Homecoming night. They’ve done this once before, so sophomore Homecoming feels a little different. They know the routine now, but they’re also beginning to come into their own.
And with around a dozen couples gathered together, there was plenty to photograph.

The Beautiful Chaos Before Homecoming
If you’ve ever been part of a Dallas Homecoming photo session, you know the hour before the kids leave is half portrait session, half organized chaos.
Parents are moving in every direction. Someone needs help with a boutonniere. Someone else is looking for a phone. The girls are checking dresses and bouquets. The boys are joking around. Parents are calling out names while phones are snapping photos from every possible angle.
And inevitably comes:
“Wait! Just one more!”

It’s part of what makes photographing Homecoming so much fun.
My job isn’t to eliminate that energy. It’s to find the moments within it.
Of course, we create the big Homecoming group portrait everyone wants, but I also look for smaller groups, individual couples, the girls together, the boys being boys, and all those in-between moments that show what the evening actually felt like.

Floral Dresses, Bouquets and Homecoming Details
The girls brought plenty of color to this year’s Highland Park Homecoming portraits, dressed in beautiful floral dresses and carrying bouquets finished with personalized monogrammed ribbons.
Those details deserve photographs of their own.
A Homecoming bouquet may feel like a small part of the evening now, but years later, photographs of the flowers, ribbons, dresses and jewelry help bring the entire memory back.
The boys arrived looking equally sharp with their Homecoming boutonnieres—and just enough teenage antics to keep things interesting.
Perfectly posed photographs have their place, but personality wins every time.

Don’t Forget the Parents
Homecoming is technically about the kids, but parents have earned a photograph or two as well.
They’ve helped with the plans, ordered flowers, found dresses, coordinated schedules, driven everyone around Dallas and probably answered approximately 4,000 text messages leading up to the evening.
So before everyone disappears for dinner and the dance, I make sure parents have a chance to step into a few photographs with their kids.
Because while sophomore year may feel like there is plenty of high school still ahead, these four years move ridiculously fast.

Why Professional Homecoming Photography Is Worth It
There will be hundreds of phone photographs taken during Homecoming—and I love that. Phones capture the spontaneous pieces of the night.
Professional Dallas Homecoming photography, however, gives families something different.

It gives everyone a chance to actually be in the photograph. It captures the entire group together. It preserves the details. And it gives parents polished portraits without making them spend the entire pre-party trying to coordinate 20+ teenagers while simultaneously operating Portrait Mode.
That’s a battle nobody needs.
The goal isn’t to turn Homecoming into a formal portrait session. It’s to work quickly, keep things moving and create beautiful photographs without taking away from the excitement of the evening.

Photographing a Highland Park Homecoming Tradition
What I love most about photographing Highland Park HOCO is that these portraits become more meaningful with every passing year.
Sophomore year is its own chapter.
They aren’t the freshmen experiencing everything for the first time anymore, but they’re not quite the upperclassmen either. Friendships are growing, personalities are becoming more defined, and they’re beginning to look surprisingly grown-up—even if five minutes later someone is picking up his friend for a photo and proving they’re definitely still teenage boys.

That’s exactly why I love photographing this age.
The polished portraits matter, but so does the chaos surrounding them.
The floral dresses. The monogrammed ribbons. The boutonnieres. The laughter. The parents hovering nearby with their phones. The friends who can’t manage a serious expression for more than three seconds.
Highland Park HOCO 2026 was another wonderful reminder that the best photographs don’t just document what everyone looked like.
They preserve what it felt like to be there.
